GNG takes action to reduce carbon footprint.

GNG is committed to improving the sustainability of our business and reducing its impact on the environment over the next decade and beyond. As part of our plan to reduce our carbon footprint across the business we have committed to planting a tree for each of our 100 employees over the next 12 months. In partnership with Carbon Footprint, GNG has signed up to the UK Trees and Verified Carbon Standard offsetting through the Portel-Pará REDD project which will offset 100 tonnes of carbon this year alone.

Trees absorb atmospheric carbon as part of the process of photosynthesis. By taking this carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, trees clean the air, and offset our polluting lifestyles. The UK Tree Planting Project coordinates planting of native British broad-leaved trees in the UK. Planting trees provides broad environmental benefits, helping provide wildlife habitat for many hundreds of years, and passing on to future generations a fascinating and highly valuable ecological heritage. A large proportion of the trees are planted in school grounds, where they help to educate and raise awareness among pupils.

Ben Priestley, Finance and Commercial Director, “GNG understands that all businesses need to find ways to become sustainable both with product offerings and in delivering them. Sustainability is critical for all our lives and the lives of the next generations, that’s part of the driving force. Our initial partnership with Carbon Footprint starts that process and the journey of trying to make our business, carbon neutral and offering carbon neutral products to the marketplace. We believe that this is not just something to think about but act upon now, we want to be ahead of the game and offering the very best products with the very best environmental credentials as soon as we possibly can. Today’s announcement is just the first step on this journey which we’re all very excited about.”
